got a head full of spiders

collection of small updates & some photos

I haven't posted in a while and I don't want to make a stream of various posts so I'm gonna smush things into one big post because I'm ✨lazy✨.

Autumn is finally here. 🎃🍂 We have some days where it's still 18C / 64F (which shouldn't happen in October in Ireland in my opinion) but it's been mostly cold and rainy.

Physically, my bones are very upset about it getting colder and are making their opinions known, but mentally I'm sky high. I've always preferred the dark and cold nights. For me, it's easier to warm up in winter than it is to cool down in summer.

Literally nothing of interest happened in September which, considering the times we live in, felt really nice. I did lock in on journaling physically for a while, and went through a 'fuck around and find out' stage until I finally landed on a way I liked. I settled into a habit with a midori traveller's notebook and it's been fun.

I do love the idea of having a physical journal to write more long things in, but realistically my hands are Very Bad (thanks genetics) so the smaller weekly format suits me much better. Below is a layout I did at the start of October, fully taken from various posts on Pinterest because the free space sort of overwhelmed me.

Related to the above. Because I spent a while figuring out what I liked I now have massive box of alcohol based markers that bleed through absolutely everything and it pisses me off. It sucks because they're so good.

They even went through a colouring book I got just to test them on. I'm getting a single sided one tomorrow though, because I'll be damned if I'm gonna just leave them unused.

Games wise I've been very... scattered. In August I hyperfocused on all my gachas. September was emulation after discovering they don't make my PC sick anymore.

Currently I'm playing through Bioshock Infinite, Resident Evil 0, Metal Gear Solid 1, Pokemon Legends ZA, and The Legend of Dragoon. I'm also casually replaying Fallout 3 and streaming a replay of the .hack//IMOQ series and Star Fox Adventures.

I did buy Control Resonant and Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave, but I really need to finish some things before I start those. I plan to finish Bioshock Infinite and RE0 this week, because I know I'm overwhelming myself with too many things at once.

I also bit the bullet and bought a PS5. With Sony no longer making discs after 2028 and knowing there'll eventually be exclusives I'll want to play, it seemed inevitable.

The plan was to get it in December for Christmas, but Ma convinced me to get one now before prices go up and stock goes down, especially with GTA6 on the horizon. I haven't used a PS controller since 2007 with the PS3 so it feels a little strange, but I'm sure I'll shake the cobwebs off whenever I get around to playing Wolverine.

Someone in one of my streams asked if my png I used had any lore, and at the time they didn't. I said I just like to have a handful of little guys to switch between depending on my mood. I ended up possessed by an idea, and now they do have lore. My fursonas aren't on there because they don't have lore, but knowing me they'll be on there some day.

I don't know what possessed me, but I wanted to know the specifics behind my first ending to Divinity Original Sin 2 I got so I could avoid it in a second run. For context with minimal spoilers, the ending I got was one of slavery with everyone hating me. My player character's love interest couldn't stand to look at her in the epilogue. I was heartbroken. Shattered.

Turns out that's a bug. A bug I never thought to even check for, because I just assumed I fucked up and made the wrong decision. Apparently, if Fane is alive when you kill the final boss, the game hijacks things and thinks Fane makes the choice instead of whatever you've chosen, leading to the ending I experienced.

I opened the game and found an old 2019 save in the middle of the final boss fight because I needed to know if the 'fix' I found - just killing Fane before the boss dies - worked. It took an hour because I turned Fane into the beefiest fuckin' mage in existence, but we got there eventually. And sure enough, after I killed the boss I got a whole different ending. Much more positive. No slavery. I've been in a slight state of shock since.

And some pictures I took, because why not. Snapseed has been my go-to app for editing things on my phone recently. They'll probably look a bit odd on PC but that's fine. It's not like I'm aiming for great quality with everything. I just like having fun.
