ups and downs of august

We got a good bit of the house painted. It was a sudden thing, like many of my mother's ideas. She's the type of person who, once she gets an idea into her head, it needs to be done yesterday. Didn't like how messy it made the place initially but it's all nice and clean now.
I got to see some relatives for the first time in a long while. It is unfortunate that they're English (this is a joke, because we're Irish) but they solidified the opinion that they're good people. I made a joke about how I'm not legally allowed to use specific bathrooms anymore (our Equality Commission doesn't have a solid answer yet) and they all said it was some bullshit nonsense, which was nice.
I read eight books in August. Well, short little novellas, but they still count.

I didn't do as much physical journaling as I would have liked. It was fully my bad for picking red as the colour of the month and also doing bad weekly layouts. Thankfully my September ones are gonna turn out nicer. I keep meaning to post pictures and keep forgetting. Definitely soon.
I slipped back into the gacha game mines. This usually wouldn't be a bad thing, since I'm hilariously behind on the plot of every game I sunk time into, but the reason this is a downer is because gachas were the only games I played in August. I don't like that, so I'm gonna be stricter about it in September.
Modern Xmen comics have become draining and annoying, which is a shame because I truly love Xmen. It's just the current Marvel office is awful. I want to sleep until they shuffle things around in December again because in the two years we've had of this new era nothing has happened.
So many books that could have been an email exist, anything with a concept isn't given room to breathe in a five issue standalone, and that's not even touching the seeming lack of communication and the crimes they've done to Storm and Magneto. I'm 87% sure reading current stuff is a form of self harm or something.
I could yap about that last one for way too long, but I wanted this to be a shorter entry, so I won't. But man, I just want Xmen to be good again.
