weekly round-up #2
Another Monday post. I know I said I'd do them on Sunday in my last one, but I think I like Monday more. Started to write this up earlier this morning after I woke up, but then the demons awoke in me and I got distracted for a few hours. Anyway.
β―β―β―β― LIFE
Awful week. Absolute shitshow of a week.
Nothing too bad happened, really, if I'm being completely honest. It was just one of Those Weeks where the lord really decided to test me on my whole 'I hate when plans are vague and/or change suddenly' thing by - you guessed it! - making every plan I kept making change suddenly for one reason or another.
Ooo lemme tell you. I was so mad. I was SO mad. Then, at the end of the week, I almost crashed out in the middle of grocery shopping because things changed once again, and being in grocery stores overstimulates the absolute shit out of me. The lights are too bright, everyone is too loud, there's too many people - specially now with Easter coming up. Horrible fucking places.
Then we had to go to a second location?? Heinous. I was so glad Ma decided to go away for an overnight stay because I needed some time to just not speak to anyone or do anything but just rot in bed with the cats. I did manage to book an Airbnb for the Scotland surgery trip, and get to hang with both my Amerifriends and the irls (including one we haven't seen in a long time because his work schedule sucks) so it wasn't all bad.
But thank god that week is over.
β―β―β―β― GAMES
Pretty decent week for games. An irl reminded me that the new Diablo 4 season started - the last one before the expansion drops, so it's a short one - so I dove back into those mines. I made a Paladin and I'm at LV40 after two play sessions. Would've been further along if I wasn't stubborn and didn't try Pentient difficulty immediately, but you live and you learn. My personal headcanon is that she's the mother of my main Necromancer because they look so similar.
I also started Monster Hunter Stories and Pokopia. I know I said I wasn't gonna start new things until I finished P3R, but I forgot MHS3 was coming out and I needed a little treat after being so brave in grocery store hell. I haven't gotten very far in either one yet, but they're very cute. Animal Crossing continues to be a nice little relaxing moment every couple days when my crops are grown. Some day I'll give Tom Nook the bells I owe him. For now I like having 7 million in the bank.
I dug around for my 3DS / DS chargers since Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is next month and I wanted to check Tomodachi Life and see if I wanted to keep anyone or had any interesting miis on my original island. What I ended up doing was playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for the first time in well over a decade for a few nights. I don't think I'll stick with it, though. I have a billion other things on my backlog that's more pressing. Like the PC release of Death Stranding 2 on Thursday.
β―β―β―β― COMICS
No links section this week because I barely got to look at stuff on the PC, so we have a comics section instead. I've been reading Marvel Xmen stuff with the previously mentioned Amerifriends weekly since... late 2021? I think? My dad passed that year, so my memory of things after June until Feb of 2022 is fuzzy.
But man. Ugh. Ever since the Krakoa era ended things really haven't been good. On one hand, I'm not reading anything current by my absolute nemesis Ben Percy (if I see him irl it's on sight) but at what cost? The Storm run has pissed me off the most. The writer said before it started that he loves her as a character, but if he did he wouldn't have put her through this bullshit.
I don't want to mention specifics in case of spoilers for anyone that wants to read them, but god. The end of Krakoa stuff with Storm and Magneto was chefs kiss. This era is like who are these people? I don't know them. The school stuff started this week, and as of writing this post I haven't read that bunch yet, but I am Nervous about it.
I also ended up filling my tablet with a bunch of DC omnibuses, which I haven't looked at properly yet. I did read a little bit of Absolute Flash while waiting for the irls to come play MTG, and god. It reminded me how comics can look good, actually. I've sorted out a proper reading list though, and I'm gonna start with Scott Snyder's Batman soon. I'm excited.
